For the longest time, I thought love was something I had to earn—that I had to be perfect to be worthy of it. But the deeper I grew in my relationship with Christ, the more I realized something profound: Love isn’t about being deserving—it’s about receiving and giving freely, just as Christ does.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." – John 3:16 (KJV)
God didn’t wait for us to be perfect before He loved us. He chose to love us despite our flaws, mistakes, and shortcomings. That’s the kind of love He calls us to walk in—not just with those who are easy to love, but with everyone.
Breaking Down Barriers to Love
For years, I had built walls around my heart. Past disappointments, betrayal, and rejection made me cautious. I thought protecting myself would keep me from getting hurt, but instead, it kept me from truly experiencing the depth of God’s love.
Then one day, I felt God ask me:
Lisa, how can you expect to love others if you haven’t fully received My love?
That question changed everything for me. I had to learn to let God love me first. I had to believe that His love wasn’t based on my performance but on who He is.

Walking in Love Every Day
Learning to love like Christ means:
Receiving God’s Love First – You can’t pour from an empty cup. Let God’s love fill you so you can love others. (Romans 8:38-39)
Loving Even When It’s Hard – Love isn’t just a feeling; it’s a choice to show grace, kindness, and patience. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
Forgiving Quickly – Holding onto offense blocks love. Choose to forgive, even when it’s hard. (Colossians 3:13)
Are You Living in Love?
Do you believe God loves you unconditionally?
Are you holding onto past hurts that keep you from loving freely?
How can you reflect God’s love in your daily life?
If we say we follow Christ, love must be at the center of everything we do.
