Have you ever experienced a time when you were so caught up in the hustle and bustle of life that you felt like you were going, going, and going but never really getting anywhere? It's as if you were running on empty and unsure if you could keep up the pace. I can relate to that.
There have been moments in my life when I've been completely overwhelmed and have had the urge to escape or simply hide under the covers, hoping that life would just pass me by. It can be challenging to find the time and energy to take care of ourselves when we're constantly being pulled in different directions. Marriage, children, work, church, not getting enough rest, as well as not sleeping or eating properly can be the culprits to your depleted energy. It's equally as hard when you feel like your efforts are not appreciated and people just want more, without taking you into consideration.

It’s easy to get into such a routine and get stuck. I’ve discovered since I’ve been an empty nester I continue to find things to keep me busy. Some of the things that I do now are just for me. It’s refreshing when you can focus on yourself, but there are other things that can pull on you like an aging parent. While it’s a blessing to care for an aging parent, it can also be tiring.
I now realize that sometimes, all I need is a simple touch from the Lord. When I feel overwhelmed, I find time to still away with the Lord. Whether it's going for a walk, sitting in a room quietly, meditating, reading a book, or standing at the church’s altar. He’s the only one that can provide that moment where everything falls into place, and you can feel a sense of peace and calm washing over you. It's a feeling like no other, and it's something that can truly change your life. So, when you're feeling low, find a place where you can have a sweet commune with the Lord. God can and will restore you.
Overwhelmed. Spend time with the Lord. "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:6-7
Tired and looking for rest. Spend time with the Lord. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Want peace. Spend time with the Lord. "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal." Isaiah 26:3-4
By reading and practicing the above scriptures…over time, I’ve been learning how to incorporate Christ into every area of my life.
Below are two books that God has inspired me to write. "The Flip Side" and "Blinded By Sight: The Heart Matters" both available now.

So… what’s this book about?
“The Flip Side” depicts the possible feelings and emotions of lesser-known Biblical characters as they navigated their lives in the shadows of the more popular characters in the Bible. While the Bible gives us snippets of their stories, we are usually left in the dark about their true motives, desires, and thoughts concerning the situations they are in. However, one certainty is that despite how little we know about these characters, they were often the catalysts to pivotal moments in the main characters’ lives.

So… what’s this book about?
Join me on a journey of self-discovery. “Blinded by Sight - The Heart Matters” is a compilation of short biblical devotions. These stories are not conclusive. They are depictions of how God is revealing my heart to me.
My prayer is, Lord, make it real for me, show me your heart, show me my heart, and give me the wisdom to change what hinders my relationship with you. I am learning that my perception is my biggest obstacle it affects my mind, what I think, and how I process my experiences. What I have experienced in my mind is expressed through my feelings and these experiences dictate my choices either consciously or subconsciously.
This devotional will allow you to explore and evaluate your past and present situations that have hindered you from seeing the heart of the matter. Simply put, look at the heart – it does matter. Your future depends on it!
I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Psalms 34:4
