Grace Is Free, But It Was Never Cheap
Grace is one of the greatest gifts we have received from God.
We cannot earn it. We cannot work hard enough to deserve it. We cannot clean ourselves up enough to qualify for it. God gives us grace because of what Jesus has already done for us.
Grace is free to us.
But grace was never cheap.
Sometimes we can become so familiar with the word "grace" that we forget what it cost. We celebrate forgiveness, and we should. But we should never forget that our forgiveness came through the sacrifice of Jesus.
Grace Does Not Mean Sin Does Not Matter

Grace is not God saying that our sin was no big deal.
It is actually the opposite.
Romans 6:1-2 asks an important question: Should we continue in sin so that grace can increase? Paul's answer is strong: "God forbid."
Why?
Because grace was never meant to make us comfortable with the very things Jesus came to free us from.
Think about it this way. If someone paid an enormous debt for you, you would not celebrate their sacrifice by running out and creating the same debt again because you knew someone else would pay it.
You would remember what their sacrifice cost.
Grace should create that same kind of gratitude in our hearts.
Grace Forgives and Grace Transforms
We need grace when we fall.
We need grace when we make mistakes.
We need grace when we realize we have wandered away from what God desires for us.
But grace does more than meet us after we fall. God's grace teaches us how to live differently.
Titus 2:11-12 tells us that God's grace teaches us to turn away from ungodliness and live lives that honor Him.
That means grace is not simply covering our past. Grace is helping transform our present.
The person you used to be does not have to be the person you remain.
The habits that once controlled you do not have to control you forever.
The attitudes, choices, and patterns Jesus has called you out of do not have to become your permanent home.
Grace says there is another way.
Remember What Jesus Paid For

Jesus did not give His life so that we could live trapped in shame. But He also did not give His life so that we could willingly remain comfortable in sin.
He came to set us free.
Romans 6:6 reminds us that through Christ, we are no longer meant to be slaves to sin.
That freedom is part of the beauty of grace.
When you truly understand grace, obedience begins to look different. Following Jesus is no longer just about a list of things you are not supposed to do. It becomes a response of love and gratitude.
You begin asking, "Jesus, after everything You have done for me, how can I honor You with the life You have given me?"
Not because you are trying to earn His love.
Not because you are afraid He will stop loving you.
But because you recognize the value of what you have received.
Receive Grace and Walk in Freedom

Maybe you have fallen short recently.
Receive His grace.
Maybe you are ashamed of something from your past.
Receive His grace.
Maybe God is showing you an area where you have become too comfortable with something He has been asking you to leave behind.
Receive His grace there too, but allow that grace to move you forward.
Grace does not only say, "You are forgiven."
Grace also reminds us, "You have been set free."
So receive God's grace fully. Let it remove shame. Let it bring you back when you wander. Let it remind you that you are loved.
But never forget what that grace cost.
Jesus gave everything so that you could walk in the freedom He purchased for you.
Call To Action
Take a moment today and ask yourself:
"Is there an area of my life where I have been using grace as a reason to stay comfortable instead of allowing grace to change me?"
Do not answer that question from a place of shame. Bring it honestly before Jesus.
Thank Him for the grace that forgives you, then ask Him for the strength to walk away from anything He died to free you from.
You do not have to earn grace. It has already been given.
Now ask God to help you live like someone who has truly been set free.
