Stay Rooted: Fruit Is Coming
Have you ever prayed, grown, surrendered, and still wondered, “God, are You doing anything?”
You have been trying to trust Him. You have been praying about the same thing. You have been working on yourself, letting go of old habits, and asking God to heal the places that still hurt.
But when you look around, nothing seems different.
That can be discouraging.
We often want to see proof that God is working. We want the answered prayer, the open door, the changed situation, or the visible breakthrough.
But some of God’s deepest work happens in places nobody can see.
Roots Grow Before Fruit Appears
Think about a tree.
Before fruit ever appears on its branches, roots have already been growing beneath the ground. They stretch deeper into the soil. They strengthen the tree. They pull in what the tree needs to survive.
Nobody sees that work happening.
But the roots are necessary.
Without strong roots, the tree cannot stand when storms come. It cannot stay healthy when the weather changes. And it cannot produce good fruit.
Our spiritual lives can be the same way.
God may be doing important work inside of you before anyone can see the results on the outside.
He may be strengthening your faith.
He may be changing the way you think.
He may be healing an old wound.
He may be teaching you patience.
He may be showing you how to trust Him instead of depending only on yourself.
You may not see the fruit yet, but the roots are growing.
Do Not Panic in the Winter
A tree does not panic when winter comes.
Its branches may look empty. The leaves may fall. There may be no flowers and no fruit.
But the tree is still alive.
The roots are still doing their work.
Sometimes we look at a quiet season and assume God has stopped working.
He has not.
Jesus said, “A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit” (Matthew 7:18).
Fruit matters, but fruit takes time.
God may be strengthening your roots before He allows the fruit to become visible.
What feels like waiting may actually be preparation.
What feels like nothing may actually be growth.
Do Not Despise the Hidden Season
There is something powerful about learning to obey God when nobody is watching.
Private prayer matters.
Quiet obedience matters.
Choosing forgiveness matters.
Opening your Bible when you do not feel anything dramatic matters.
Changing the way you respond to people matters.
Allowing God to heal things you have carried for years matters.
These moments may feel small, but God sees them.
Psalm 1 describes a person who delights in God’s Word as a tree planted by streams of water. That tree brings forth fruit in its season.
Notice that phrase.
In its season.
Not every season is a fruit season.
Some seasons are for growing roots.
Some seasons are for healing.
Some seasons are for pruning.
Some seasons are for learning how to stand.
And some seasons are simply teaching us how to stay close to God.
What God Develops in Secret Will Show
You may not see everything God is doing right now.
That does not mean nothing is happening.
Keep praying.
Keep surrendering.
Keep obeying what God has already shown you.
Keep allowing Him to work on the places beneath the surface.
One day, the work that happened privately will begin to show publicly.
The peace will show.
The wisdom will show.
The patience will show.
The healing will show.
The faith will show.
Galatians 6:9 reminds us not to grow tired of doing good because, at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
So stay rooted.
Your hidden season is not wasted.
God is still working.
Fruit is coming.
Call to Action
Take a few quiet minutes today and ask God:
Lord, what are You growing in me during this season?
Write down what comes to your heart.
Maybe He is building patience. Maybe He is healing rejection. Maybe He is teaching you to trust Him. Maybe He is strengthening your faith before your next season begins.
Do not only thank God for the fruit you can see.
Thank Him for the roots He is growing where nobody else can see.
